More and more my paintings are about my immediate surroundings and are painted from things like my studio table, my backyard, or my daughter’s toys. However I am interested in other things that I think intersect in my paintings. I am interested in a paintings singular ability to record thought, feeling, and experience through a process that is analytical, perceptual, and most importantly, subjective. It is this uniqueness that makes painting relevant within a culture that increasingly communicates through other means like the computer and digital technologies.
At the same time, regardless of its viability in the digital age, painting is a way for me to pursue a particular kind of personal clarity. I hope that the paintings reflect a pursuit for coherence that is diligent, creative, and passionate.
